Premature Response, Whats up with that?

Category: Features

So I am taking a class for school that deals with Ethics Issues in the field of Nursing. On a recent online discussion we were asked to write about ANY topic that we might find interesting in and well, write about it. I chose to write about how the field of nursing has changed over the years stemming back from Ancient Times where women were persecuted, oppressed and had this predominantly female profession taken away from by the brainwashing efforts of the Catholic Church and the male race. I continued to write that as years and eras passed, now, in Modern Times the smoke has started to settle, women in history such as Florence Nightingale began to speak up against women’s rights and their place in the nursing profession and have once again started to be recognized as people of value and now both men and women from all areas all religious backgrounds are embracing this field of healthcare (It’s not me its history people!).

Well much to my surprise I log on the next week and find that my comment has been completely taken out of context and I am being accused of being prejudice against gays, having a double standard somehow stating that gay people or men are not capable of being able to work in the field of nursing! Blah! Blah! Blah! WHAT IS UP WITH THAT! If its one thing that falls on the top of my pet peeve list is people that don’t read and understand what they are reading and then respond with some stupid response that has absolutely nothing to do with the actual content of what is there! Luckily in this case the discussion was in an online format, because I am positive that this level of stupidity would not have been spoken out loud and to my face if the class was live.

A list of instructions for anyone who is guilty of this or has dealt with this situation because it happens ALOT. 1.Read first 2.Understand 3. Take a deep breath 4. Use caution and finally 5. Respond Intelligently!, don’t just speak or write because you like to look at words on paper because, newsflash! people are reading this stuff! and no one likes to be labeled as something that they are not or have their words mixed around and used as some messed up version of the game operator! Believe me, I’m no expert on life but this is one of those things that I’m telling you will payoff in the future; paying attention to content is a very endearing quality and your response is even more important.
